About Me

I’m Sam Lebowitz! I'm a sports broadcaster with hands-on experience in media relations and sponsorship sales, currently based in Boston, Massachusetts. 2025 was my third season as a broadcaster for the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. I was on the call for each SeaWolves broadcast in 2025, including 50 as a solo, lead broadcaster. The SeaWolves played in the Eastern League Championship Series in all three of my seasons in Erie, two of which culminated in championships. Over that span, I helmed over 400 individual broadcasts, bringing informative and engaging content to play-by-play, pre- and post-game shows, daily game notes, and more.

In 2025, I transitioned into a full-time, dual broadcasting and sponsorship services role. I spent the offseason before 2025 adding revenue to the SeaWolves through creative sponsorships. In-season, I maintained my daily broadcast and media relations responsibilities while also fulfilling various sponsored services tasks, such as gathering content for proof of performance. The SeaWolves’ broadcast also reached new audiences in 2025 with its debut on television. Games were broadcast locally on Erie News Now and in the Michigan market on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit.

2025 was the most memorable season of my career so far, as the SeaWolves welcomed comedian John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight crew into our world and debuted the Erie Moon Mammoths, an alternate identity promotion that drew national attention. As part of the Moon Mammoths’ debut game on July 19, I led efforts to coordinate with various local and national outlets that came to UPMC Park to cover the event, which broke the ballpark’s attendance record. I also called the game solo, had Oliver on the broadcast for the fifth inning, and had my broadcast calls featured in the show’s piece about the game on HBO.

From Erie to Central New York to Massachusetts, broadcasting has taken me on a winding path in my career. I graduated from Syracuse University in 2022 summa cum laude with a degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and a minor in Sport Management. Prior to joining the SeaWolves, I spent summers broadcasting collegiate summer baseball with the Syracuse Salt Cats of the New York Collegiate Baseball League in 2021 and the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2022.
